Host Operating Systems

I know that there is an installation program per hosting operating
system and thus I am wondering what is the purpose of that separate
"Host Operating Systems" selection during "Specific Installation".

Would you, please, suggest a reason for that?

So far as I know, the installers are all identical.

You download the one you want/are able to run.

You install for whatever host(s) (and target(s)) you want.

IIRC, this made sense when I had, for example, a dual-boot OS/2 & DOS
system and wanted to install OW for both and had a dial-up connection,
as it saved a long download.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Yes, indeed, this make some sense, but meanwhile I read the last
three paragraphs of page 8 of "OW Fortran 77 Getting Started", v1.8,
pdf Documentation, from which I can conclude now that, during
"Selective Installation", someone can usefully add from the offered
Hosts all those Operating Systems which may coexist in the same
partition.
